City Centre Abu Dhabi

Great news for shopping enthusiasts - plans have been set to construct a new mall in Abu Dhabi. City Centre Al Jazira, which is the fruit of a collaboration between Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club and Majid Al Futtaim, is set to open in 2021.

The 1.4 billion dirham project will be home to over 150 retail stores, Carrefour Hypermarket, a kids entertainment centre powered by Magic Planet, and 15-screen VOX cinemas. Not to mention a City Centre Clinic, a gym and fitness centre, along with various outdoor and indoor dining options.

With a total leasable area of 80'500 square meters within a 215'000 square meter built-up area , the mall will have a wider scale in comparison to the My City Centre neighborhood.

Majid Al Futtaim made the announcement for the mall construction on Tuesday, and the statement marks the firm's latest investment in the Abu Dhabi entertainment and retail scene. The whole ordeal is part of a bigger plan to pump 30 billion dirhams in grants by 2026, elevating its complete investment in the United Arab Emirates to 48 billion dirhams. Quite the sum of money, don't you think?

Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim, Alain Bejjani, mentioned that the company continued to portray resilience and strength against a series of regional economic obstacles.

Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club's investment Chairman Saeed Mohammed bin Batti Al Qubaisi mentioned that Al Jazira is excited to play a role in creating a brand new lifestyle destination that will unite people in The Emirates'capital, Abu Dhabi.

Majid Al Futtaim has been on quite an investment spree, announcing various real estate developments and acquiring Geant supermarkets in the near future. The company also publicized several projects such as My City Centre Masdar, which will be located in the UAE's capital as well, planned to be open to the public by the end of 2018, as well as My City Centers in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.
