Good news for all the Marvel comic lovers as the structural columns for what is yet to become one of the world's largest indoor theme parks is being completed this week in Dubai.

The developer, IMG Group, announced that the vast dome shaped steel roof skeleton has been completed and the planned rides will include those based around the Marvel comic heroes and Cartoon Network characters. Dubai Land is stuated between Academic City and Arabian Ranches. The total area of the park will be 1.5 million square feet and is located in Dubailand.

Due to the delays in construction, the planned opening date will be early next year, 2017. The rides are being manufactured overseas and shipments are expected before the end of the present year. 

The park is the biggest creation of IMG Group and it will be the largest temperature controlled indoor entertainment destination in the world, as described by the company. Up to 20,000 people can be accommodated and the aim is to attract more than 10,000 visitors per day.

The park will be divided into four zones as follows:


- marvel comic book hero zone

- Cartoon network zone

- lost valley dinasour attraction and entertainment zone

- 12 screen cinema, eating and shopping zone


One of the largest attractions of the park will be an electromagnetic roller coaster,which is planned to travel outside the building and will include a larger number of twists and turns than the roller coaster in Ferrari world. 

The cinema will be 5D and will include effets such as smell, wind motion and THR 3D Imax-style experience.

An additional project and idea that IMG wants to include in the park is a conference facility to attract corpotate events on top on the entertainment ones.

This great news is being well anticipated by the public as the project was put on hold for years and was supposed to be opened in 2011.
