Dubai Holding has announced a new tourism project called "Marsa Al Arab", said to cost $1.7 billion, which includes the construction of two new islands on both sides of the luxury hotel "Burj Al Arab".

The project, which includes hotels, theaters, retail space, a marina, a business district, residences and luxury villas, aims to encourage the plan to increase the number of visitors in Dubai to 20 million per year until 2020, when this city will be hosting the "World Expo 2020" exhibition.

Marsa Al Arab UAE coast will add 2.2 kilometers of beaches, according to the state news agency "WAM".

"Marsa Al Arab" will occupy about 372'000 square meters, including two artificial islands. An island will be a tourist destination for families, while the other will contain luxury villas and a private marina. The new tourist complex will have a 2,2 kilometer long beach.


On the island focused on family entertainment will have the "Wild Wadi" water park, in order to increase the number of visitors in the new resort, which is managed by the "Jumeira Group". "Dubai Holding" will also develop a "Marine Park" - an educational center about the underwater world, which will include an amphitheater and a capacity for 1,000 people. Visitors here will be able to familiarize themselves with exotic aquatic animals and fish. The large aqua parks "Wild Wadi" and "Marine Park" will occupy together an area of ​​232,258 square meters.


"Marsa Al Arab" will also include a theater that will be able to receive 1,700 visitors and that will be the home of the famous Canadian entertainment company "Cirque du Soleil". This new destination will also have a museum in which rare pearls will be exhibited, as well as ancient beads from the region and around the world stories will be told about pearl collectors from the Emirates. The museum will have its cultivation pearl "farm" and a boutique inspired by these precious stones.


In order to attract international companies to set up their base at the new destination, "Marsa Al Arab" will also include office space with a mixed-use convention center and hotel on the mainland. The new retail space will be built on an area of ​​20,000 square meters, the site where currently "Wild Wadi" water park is located. The project envisages the construction of 300 apartments along the coast.


It is expected that "Marsa Al Arab" will increase the "Jumeirah Group" portfolio for 2,400 additional hotel rooms, with which this group will be offering a total of 8,428 rooms.


It is planned that the construction of this new tourist complex is to be completed in late 2020.
